You are not asking for too much
You are not too much. You are not asking for too much. You do not need to write a gratitude list every morning in order to maintain subservience. You do not need to make excuses for your husband, partner, mother, lover as to why it's okay that they walk all over you. Keep you tamped down. Give you less than you need.
You are under no obligation to cinch your waist to fit into the gown they’ve selected for you. You do not need to live your life contracting in favor of everyone else’s expansion. You do not need to smile and be happy all the time. You deserve the generative amplitudes of rage. The searing fuel of anger. The wild organic burst of a new idea. The blue flame illuminates the unmet need. Sit. Watch it till the embers cool. There, you will find your first clue. Free it from the ash. Cup it in your hands. Hold it to your breast. Plant it in your belly. The seed will crack soon. And you will pour forth from its head.
What you desire, desires you, too. What you are seeking, is also seeking you. Staying small and reasonable serves no one but your captors. You no longer require being “kept.” Even though you might not be able to admit that yet. Your captor may be a limiting belief. It may be a marriage. It may be a lump in your throat. Anything that keeps you less than what you are. You have evolved far beyond your less-ness. It is time to claim your everything.
Unspool the twine in your throat. You are ready to speak your truth.
Remove the ceiling from your house. You are Alice sprouting limbs at the stars.
Close your eyes.
As you inhale, allow your belly to expand; bathe your lungs in oxygen. Drink in the limitless possibility of you.
As you breathe out, squeeze your keepers from your psyche.
Compress them into bronchial branches.
Let them be swallowed by the soil.
