One of the hardest things about making the hard decision to get a divorce is becoming a pin cushion for the reactions of other people. Which were, funnily enough, not dissimilar to my experience telling people I was quitting drinking.
“Are you sure? But you don’t really have a problem!” is a personal favorite. When you make a decision to turn against the status quo in favor of yourself, you unwittingly challenge everyone else’s sense of security unless they’ve been through the same thing. Please keep in mind I wouldn’t know any of this if I hadn’t been through it myself.
