Burning the Good Girl Contracts: Radical Responsibility + Re-Writing Old Stories
No More Waiting
At every moment, we are either choosing courage or comfort. Expansion or contraction. Growth or destruction.
Every time we say yes to a drink, we say no to ourselves. Every hour we spend with old friends committed to old patterns, we lose an hour with new friends committed to what’s possible. Whenever we choose to live in fear and control over freedom and surrender, we betray the deepest parts of ourselves.
What we are not changing, we are choosing. Victimhood and martyrdom are uninspired stories.
And here’s the truth: No one is interested.
But up until very recently, Victimhood and martyrdom were the crusted transparencies through which I was choosing to experience life. The story I was choosing to tell. For attention. For adulation. For gentle pats on the head.
Exhibit A: boringest story…
(read through whiny nasal vocals)
I don’t believe I’m worthy of financial success. My parents always taught me that I was incapable of handling money. I’m just so scared about what people will think of me. What if I fail? What if people laugh? I stayed in a marriage I was unhappy in for 15 years. How sad is that? And missed out on building a career. It’s not fair. I’ve been duped. The world is against me. Whomp Whomp Whomp.
At what point did you go offline? That’s what I thought. No body. No matter how much they pretend to care, is interested. In entertaining this level of woe-is-me-dom.
Fear is boring. Everyone’s got it. It’s not unique to you. Or me. But you know what IS unique? YOUR GIFTS. The way you see the world. The art you alchemize from the richness of your experiences. The way you rose from the dead, against all odds. Your perseverance and tenacity. Your grit. Your refusal to give the fuck up. Now THAT, my friends? THAT. Is a story I’m popping popcorn for.
Has life been hard? Yes
Has the road been long? Yes
Have I spent some nights on the bathroom floor? Yes
Great! So has every other person on the planet.
The true test is this: What did you make of it? How did you assimilate this to become? Tell us your story. So we can believe more fully in OUR undeniable courage and splendor.
The world doesn’t need more women frozen by fear. The world doesn’t need more women committed wholeheartedly to “The Good Girl Contract.”
The world needs more women ready to blaze trails lit by the burnt ends of tired agreements.
The world needs “Wild Woman Manifestos” carved into cave walls. For our grandchildren to find in 100 years. When they leave their civilized world, tortured by their own tired agreements.
We need the kind of sap that nourishes a new way of being in the bellies of our great-grandchildren.
The world is full of victimhood.
If you want to stand out, it’s time to tell a new story.

Hot Tips Creating Instead of Repeating
Catch Yourself in the Old Script
Notice when you’re about to tell the same tired story. The one that keeps you small. Pause. Then ask: Does this serve the version of me I’m becoming? If not, drop it. Notice the freedom that comes with letting the old story die out.
Rewrite the First Line
Instead of “I’ve always struggled with…” try “I’m currently learning how to…” Language matters. Your brain believes what you tell it.
Act Before You’re Ready
Waiting until you feel “prepared” is a trap. Creation happens in motion, not in waiting. Build the engine while you’re flying the plane. Put something out there. Let it be imperfect. Let it be real.
Let’s build a new story—one that actually belongs to you.
